"These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look..." Proverbs 6:16-17a
"God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humblt." James 4:6
"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18
"For though the Lord is exalted, Yet He regards the lowly, But the haughty He knows from afar." Psalm 138:6
These are just a small sampling of Bible verses that pertain to pride and its effects on our life. Pride, when it finds a home in our spirit, seperates us from God, causes God to oppose us, and can bring destruction into our lives. In my estimation there is no other sin in the Bible that God judges so harshly. Lucifer was cast out of heaven because of pride, Adam caused a curse to fall on all of mankind and creation because of pride, Moses was never allowed to enter into the promised land because of pride, Herod was struck down and eaten by worms..and the list goes on and on! That is why it important to daily examine ourselves to make sure that our lack of forward motion in the Kingdom is not due to pride. I've heard it said that pride is like a beard, it must be trimmed every day! People who do not acknowledge their pride issue are unteachable, easily angered, stubborn, self-willed, selfish, unforgiving and have an unhealthy view of themselves and others around them. Pride is the easiest to spot in others, but the hardest to see in ourselves! Make a determination today to pray and ask God to reveal areas in your life that may be riddled with the cancer of pride, and let the Holy Spirit do His work to eradicate this destructive force. Then allow God to move again in power, impact, refreshing and newness of life with Him!
Many Blessings - Pastor John Salcido
